START: To be confirmed

ROUTE: To be confirmed

The FNB Freedom Ride Cape Town is a 27km social ride through the streets of Cape Town to celebrate connection, community and to honor Madiba’s life and legacy.

In symbolically riding 1km for every year of Madiba’s sacrifice of his freedom, the ride will explore the city’s cultural heritage, taking participants through a diverse network of urban transport and development corridors – highlighting practical cycle routes and enabling participants to experience the freedom of cycling in the city.

The ride is a non-competitive event and is open to everyone – from those learning to ride to pro cyclists. Everyone is eligible to register for the event, but please take note of the age restrictions.

Participation is free but you must register to take part as numbers are limited. Participants are encouraged to donate to assist in setting up a Bicycle Empowerment Centre in Langa.

Detailed information on the ride can be found here (e.g. registration procedure, FAQs, ride checklist and links to resources on cycling in Cape Town, bicycle rental and public transport options).
